Mindfulness is an awareness of our present situation, of how our past brought us here, the lessons we learnt to get here and the changes we can make to improve our daily existence.

It brings us into an awareness of our mental and emotional health. We take control of our lives for the better and put ourselves into the clear and present moment while focusing on our wellbeing. Mindfulness is not something new to learn. We have always had the capability to be aware of our present moment, but it is the art of learning how to master it in everyday life that brings forth the benefits of clear thinking, reduced stress levels and the ability to avoid overreacting to things that occur in life.

Mindfulness shifts our consciousness to a level of balance, creating a calm persona and providing more clarity and concentration.

When we are mindful, we are living in the present and actuating a peaceful way of being, which feels like a certain quietness within us. When actively being mindful, this stillness transforms within us to create a quiet inner silence. It has been described as an intense awareness of being present in the moment, right here and now. This deeper awareness is available to us at all times when we are present in the now moment and creates the opportunity to move into a higher level of awareness in our life.

We can practice mindfulness with all our activities in life; whether hanging out the washing, doing the dishes, or walking the dog, anything we are bringing our full focused attention can become a mindfulness practice with purpose. Our mind is a superb instrument and when geared towards awareness of thought and away from the slipstream of internalized thinking, we break away from rational processes and thoughts of self-talk in our mind.
When we move into this alert state of being, we become more awake and fully present in the now moment, which as a result creates a mental space away from the stream of conscious thinking. By opening up to the practice of accessing this space we give ourselves a reflective experience, tapping into our moment of presence, thereby experiencing immense power within.
When we access our mind space, it gives us freedom from the constant and restless shifting of thoughts that go on in our head all day long, turns down the noise that prevents us from being present in the moment, removes the pattern interrupting the stream of conscious thought, and provides a break from the constant flow of information flooding through our mind.

Every time we connect with this space, we break the thought stream, and as a result, our insight moves into a more reflective state to observe what we are doing. This helps us to pause and refocus on the thought stream and gives us respite from our overpowering conscious thinking. By accessing this place in the centre of our head we gain a stillness in which our mind creates the space to obtain an awareness of thought and access the power of selective thinking. Shifting our focus into this area gives us the chance to rise above problematic conscious thinking and move to a place where we can select and review our thought stream.

When focusing on the middle of our mind we find no question or judgement, control, or justification as a reflection of the present moment. If we become proficient in utilising it, it settles our busy thinking, and we discover we can instead select our thoughts. This is when we start to view life from our conscious awareness, and it becomes very empowering to know that we can select our thoughts. It gives us release from our mental-emotional struggle with overthinking which comes from the pressure of everyday life.
